The Iconic Clothing Website

This is a online clothing website, where many clothing materials of both genders can be brought. I thought this website was quite simple but still effective with the layout and having a on going colour scheme of black and white, which is a good contrast. This is a very clear website, which is good for a clothing website as it needs to be, especially with buyers actually wanting to buy. If the website was to difficult to work the buyer would give up and move onto another clothing website. Overall I think this is an simple but effective website.

The Edge Website

The Edge is a radio station within New Zealand, that provides the latest music today. I usually listen to this radio station and thought it would be interesting to see what there website looked like. I was surprised with how good the website is presented and looks, I really like how they have used images of an famous recent artist in the background behind all the information, I think this is a really good effect and grabs the attention of the viewer straight away. The website is easy to use and is very clear and I didn't find any faults in looking around the website. I think this business has done really well to present all there work on this website and you can tell it gets updated regularly which is really good.

Adobe Website

This is a really effective website, and so it should be, with Adobe being such as well known world wide brand, and being one the most creative softwares, it needs to live up to its expectations. Its bold, colourful, clear and well presented. Some of the other pages within this website and aren't as effective, they are also quite confusing to read as there is information everywhere and no images, which i think there needs to be a balance of. Overall this website is very effective.

Otago Museum Webpage


Looking through this website i found it very plain. It was easy to follow and find things but because there were so many distractions and bold colours I found it confusing. It shows everything that needs to be shown, but I feel there needs to be more to the website, it all seems the same and there is no eye grabbing heading the actually says 'Otago Museum', only the logo at the top left. This website isn't bad, but I do feel as though there needs to be more to it and needs to be more bold and eye grabbing since the Otago Museum is so well known.

David Carson Design Website


David Carson is a designer and i thought to look into his website could be interesting to see what it would be like. I like it all though there are certain things about this website that don't follow the principles for a good website. I feel it shows the designer and his works well and suites his works, but with so many distractions of the background and the display of his works, its difficult to see the writing and the links to other pages within the website. I think if the opacity of the main background picture was not as bold, i think this website would look effective and would be clear and easy to use. I find there is no order within this website either, there needs to be a consistency of where the writing is, where as the writing is placed randomly on the web page. Overall i think this website is effective but could do with a few more improvements.

M.A.C Cosmetics Website


This website is bold, colorful and grabs your attention straight away. They have used a simple layout by using the images of the makeup and people modeling the makeup as there main attraction, then they have placed all there writing and links to the left side. I think this is an effective way to get peoples attention straight away as pictures are what people look at first when going to a website they are unsure about, or have never visited, they then look for links to other pages and to find out more information on the product, which is why its good they have placed it to the left as people read left to right. When you click on the links more links and information pops to the side, as shown in the right picture above, this is helpful to find a certain product that you are looking for instead of searching further. The overall website is targeting their market well, with having the bold colours and pictures, i feel this suits the brand as there make up is usually bold and colorful.

Black Stitch online clothing website




This website shows consistency throughout, using the same colours, Black Stitch clothing is able to show there signature colours clearly. Their logo ' BLACK STITCH' has been clearly shown and is in a different font, different boldness and different sizing to the other fonts within the website, which makes it more noticeable and stand out more. I like this website, its clear, bold, simple and still effective. They have seen to keep their main attention on the clothing, as its displayed in the center of the web home page,  i think is important especially in retail websites, as its important to show the selling point and make it clear of what type of retail it is. It is easy to sign up to their clothing site to get the latest updates on their clothing by entering your email address, they have made their website clear and easy to use for people that are unfamiliar to this website. I came straight into this website and was able to clearly look at what i wanted whether it was 'dresses' or 'new arrivals', it is displayed on the left side and didn't involve any searching. Overall i think this website is successful and wouldn't need any further updating as it has the layout to aim there attention towards the teenager age market.
